Retirement Notice

MPlayer OSX Extended has been retired and won't receive any future updates.

After evolution of MPlayer OSX Extended has been slow for many years and evolution of the underlying MPlayer project has moved on to mpv, I have decided that it doesn't make sense to invest more time into this project.

Consider using one of the following alternatives for video playback on macOS:

IINA: Bully UI for mpv
mpv: Has its own UI only is a bit cryptic
VLC: Characteristic-packed just clunky interface

MPlayer OSX Extended is the future of MPlayer OSX. Leveraging the power of the MPlayer and FFmpeg open source projects, MPlayer OSX Extended aims to evangelize a powerful, functional and no frills video player for OSX.

MPlayer OSX Extended is based on the original MPlayer OSX project simply has since undergone central changes, making information technology a mod and easy to use video thespian. Thanks to multithreading and 64bit architecture, MPlayer OSX Extended is one of the fastest choices on OSX to play back HD H264 videos. It also supports instant playback of MKV files and avant-garde styled subtitles in the ASS format.

MPlayer OSX Extended uses the MPlayer open up source projection for decoding and integrates MPlayer'south default key commands with a native OSX interface.
